SUPPORTING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
THE WIDER PICTURE
8
Cedric was briefly up-staged when in 2006 our teddy’s creator received the NCH Founder’s award.
NCH supporters were encouraged to give ‘a loving home and a name’ to a teddy, but our next teddy was to have a name. ‘Nat’! Proceeds would now go to the Development Fund for the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery in London - now the National Brain Appeal.
Ampthill Methodist Church has always welcomed the use of its premises for appropriate community activities. Regular meetings included from time to time a young people’s Games Club, a pre-nursery Parent & Child ‘Chat-in’, an Indoor Bowls Club, Badminton & Yoga. Occasional meetings have included local branches of various local Associations & Trusts, Adult Education and local initiatives in Art and Music.

ACTION FOR CHILDREN (NCH)
A now informal group of friends works locally to raise funds for this leading UK Family and Child Care Organisation, Action for Children’. You might have seen one of our jointed Teddies (below left). Not the official ‘mascot’ (CEDRIC, a green Dragon) from time to time seen collecting locally.

CHURCHES TOGETHER IN ENGLAND

In the Church itself we have accommodated whole school ‘Speech Day’ assemblies where a large enough building has not been available on the school site. The current building work now fully complete we are again taking enthusiastic bookings for the Hall and smaller ground floor ‘School Rooms’. Don’t be afraid to ask if we have a ‘slot’ which might help your community venture.

There are now an amazing 700 cherished bears out there dressed by a very busy lady in aid of two very good causes!
